the one the only... the classic What's fer dinner thread!

Tossing the grub on the table is fine but alot better when it tastes good too. Slow cook, fry, bake, boil lets get hungry!

oleman stopped by and snagged us a hamburger from town...it was fair, (but I'm glad I didn't have to cook) I've got evil popcorn everywhere in the kitchen and wrapping paper on the table.

...a recipe my m-i-l found, but there's no name to it - we just call it 'Pasta Mix"

1 box (1lb) pasta - I use rotini, penne, or shells
1 lb ground meat - your choice
(here's the good part for us heat-n-eaters)
1 can (or 1 box frozen) spinach - that's about 2 cups
1 can diced tomatoes with Italian spices - again, that's about 2 cups
shredded parmesan cheese (the recipe calls for 6 oz) - I've used the dried parmesan/romano spaghetti sprinkle-type stuff with success

cook pasta according to box directions - cook ground meat (if not already) / canned cooked ground sausage makes this a very quick meal - mix well - pop in oven at 350 for about 15 minutes to get everything hot & the cheese melted a bit

That's what we had for dinner tonight.

Deer, Re fried beans, rice, sour cream and salsa. Mix it all together and add sour cream to top.

Taco Rice n Cheese - From the Philippines none the less.

- Brown 1pd ground beef
- Add Taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water
- Boil 2 cups rice
- Cheese
- Ketchup

In a large bowl, add a big scoop of rice. Add the Taco meat to the top.

Cover the top with cheese and heat up/microwave if you want it temperature hot.

Once the cheese is slightly melted add a big squirt of Ketchup over it all.

Stir slightly and enjoy what every Marine who has ever visited Okinawa has eaten on a Friday night.

So was this something the locals made or Marines made?

The local filipinas made it to sell to the Marines in Oki. I still make it 15 years later, my wife and kids think it's awesome.
