* 1 cup shortening
* 2 cups sugar
* 3 cups flour
* 1t soda
* 1 t salt
* 1-1/4 C buttermilk
* 2 t vanilla
* 4 eggs

Cream shortening and sugar, add flour and butter milk. Mix soda and salt with flour. Beat 3 minutes on low speed. Add vanilla and eggs one at a time...Bake 350...1 hour.
